Catecholamines have a unique structure of a benzene ring with two hydroxyl groups, an intermediate ethyl chain, and a terminal amine group. 

The following catecholamines are present in the body:-

  • Dopamine
  • Adrenaline
  • Noradrenaline

All the catecholamines are derived from the amino acid tyrosine
