Tuberous sclerosis
Tuberous sclerosis is a neurocutaneous syndrome associated with significant psychiatric co-morbidity including autism, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and even psychosis.
It shows autosomal dominant inheritance with complete penetrance and variable expression.
It is charcterised by the growth of multiple non-malignant tumours that grow in the brain and other vital organs.
It results from a mutation of one of two tumour suppression genes (TSC1 and TSC2).
