Proteasome
Proteasomes function to degrade endogenous proteins (i.e. proteins manufactured by the cell). They are located both in the nucleus and the cytoplasm. Proteins are tagged for degradation with a small protein called ubiquitin. The proteasome is a cylindrical complex containing a 'core' of four stacked rings around a central pore.
